Color and Black and White Printing

In the past with optical printing and silver based technology it was always known that there was a true separation between color and black and white processes in order to get the best of each. In my opinion the same is true with digital printing. So I use color inks for color and black quad tone grayscale inks for black and white.

I use Epson Ultrachrome color inks, which is one of the best on the market for color today. For Black and White I use Jon Cone's Piezotone carbon based quadtone Inks which is the best for doing black and white printing.

The two different quadtone hue sets I use are:

Warm neutral - a slightly warm look bordering on a platinum feel

Selenium Tone - a slightly cool look but closer to straight neutral

I will show you samples of both so you can choose. My favorite is warm neutral because of the richness.  It's friendly. When printing B&W I print in grayscale not in RGB. I've been printing Piezo longer than anybody in this area, probably 10 years.

The papers I print on are primarily in the Hahnemuhle line of 100% rag material.

I have been looking at other papers and may add more later.

I charge by the square foot which includes image area and borders. There is a minimum charge of 1.5 sq ft per print.

1st Print- $22.00 per sq ft

Additional print from the same image at time of printing - $17.00 per sq. ft.

Here are some standard sizes to give you an idea of the pricing.
